Food For Life Kitchen Upgrade – The Story So Far
The current Food For Life Kitchen is located at the Hare Krishna (ISKCON) Temple in Albert Park. It has been gradually expanded as required over its long history, but due to the ad hoc nature of these expansions and renovations, it is too small, under equipped, and inefficient.

The initiative to upgrade the facility began some years ago. Through a variety of consultants, planners and architects, plans were drawn up and permits acquired.

Cost projections have been completed and a feasibility study has concluded that the time to build the kitchen is now.

The kitchen upgrade will improve the efficiency and functionality of the kitchen, and that in turn will increase the scope and range of our local Food for Life programs.

The Proposed Food For Life Kitchen Facility
The new Food for Life Kitchen facility will be a modern commercial kitchen, capable of 4 – 5 times the output of the old kitchen. There are many plans for the expansion of our meal program afoot, and this new facility is the powerhouse that will drive all of these projects forward. In the next 5 years FFLK proposes to open more Crossways style outlets, increase free food relief programs, and expand our educational programs and facilities. We also want to integrate our existing rural projects more fully with the work of Food For Life Kitchen and make them more accessible for the general public. The new Food for Life Kitchen is an essential element of this exciting vision.
